Family History Books, Thoughtfully Designed.

The old photographs kept in a box. The handwritten recipes. The letters, journals, and little memories that somehow survived the years.
We help you bring it all together—and turn it into a beautiful book
your loved ones can hold, share, and treasure for generations.
Transform family memories into a lasting connection.

See What a Family History Book Can Be.
A photograph beside the story that gives it meaning. A handwritten letter given room to stand on its own. A recipe, a document, a familiar phrase, or an ordinary detail that suddenly brings someone back into the room.
Every collection holds different possibilities.

Find the Story Within the Collection.
Our work is focused on discovering the connection.
A collection of family history holds more than individual facts and memories. Taken together, the pieces begin to reveal relationships, patterns, places, turning points, traditions, and personalities.
We may notice that a photograph gives new meaning to a story written years later. A brief mention of a family tradition may deserve more space. A journal entry may bring a historical event down to a human scale.
THE RESULT IS A FAMILY HISTORY BOOK THAT FEELS INTENTIONALLY SHAPED RATHER THAN SIMPLY ASSEMBLED.
Our Process.

01.
get a bird's eye view
We review the family history material you've gathered to understand the people, chronology, relationships, and themes within it.

02.
FIND THE MEANINGFUL THREADS
We look for important connections between stories, photographs, places, people, objects, and moments.

03.
IDENTIFY WHAT IS MISSING
When another photograph, short interview, anecdote, or bit of context could deepen the story, we let you know.

04.
DECIDE WHAT BELONGS
Not everything has to make the final book. Thoughtful curation gives the most meaningful material room to matter.
Details That Bring a History to Life
Dates and names tell us what happened. Details help us know the people behind them.
A familiar phrase. A handwritten recipe. A favorite chair. A ticket stub tucked into a book. Small things can carry an extraordinary amount of memory — and meaning.

Designed With Intention.
We believe beautiful design should deepen the experience of a story, not compete with it.
Typography, color, image treatment, page architecture, white space, captions, pacing, and special layouts all contribute to how the story feels when someone turns the page.
Some materials need restraint. A handwritten letter may be most powerful when it is allowed to remain almost untouched. A long narrative may need a quiet, readable page. A group of photographs may become more meaningful when arranged around a single memory.
The visual system gives the book consistency while allowing different pieces to keep their own character.
The goal is not simply to make every page impressive. It is to make every page feel purposeful.
How We Craft Your Book

Gather and Understand
We review your collected materials and begin to understand the people, chronology, relationships, and scope of the story.

Discover and Shape
We identify meaningful threads, missing context, insights, and the structure that will best serve the material.

Develop Visual Language
We establish typography, color, image treatments, page architecture, and sample spreads before full production begins.

Build, Review, and Refine
We design the complete book, balancing narrative and imagery while refining pacing, transitions, and photo / archival material.

Print and Delivery
We manage the printing process so that all elements, from paper, image reproduction and binding support the character of the finished book.
Every project takes its own shape, but the work generally moves through five stages:
Family Stories Worth Keeping
Some stories span generations. Others center on one life, someone deeply missed, or a story all their own.
At The Printy Bird, we think every kind of story is worth keeping.

LIFE STORY
AND
MEMOIR BOOKS
Your story may focus on a loved one- or your own life.
Already have a manuscript, interviews, journals, photos, or other material? We can turn it into a custom finished book.

MEMORIAL
AND
TRIBUTE BOOKS
We create custom tribute books that preserve their stores, personality, and the details that made them who they were.
Sometimes a book begins with the desire to hold onto someone who's no longer here.

OTHER
KINDS
OF
BOOKS
Have a story in mind? Let's explore what it could become.
A book can center on a person, place, family, event, or something entirely unique.
Meet the
Printy Birds.
We are Anne and Shaundra, the women behind The Printy Bird.
We created this studio around a shared belief that the things families save deserve more than storage. Stories, photographs, letters, and small pieces of a life carry meaning that can easily disappear when no one knows what to do with them.
Our work brings together years of experience in graphic design, research, content creation, and storytelling, but the part we care most about is understanding what makes each collection personal.
We ask questions. We notice details. We take the time to understand why something matters before deciding how it should appear on the page.
Let's build your family history book together!
